Ruth Pridemore Death Obituary Plymouth, Ohio: Woman Killed in Chain-Reaction Crash Near Roadwork Zone

In Loving Memory of Ruth Pridemore

Plymouth, OH — March 9, 2026

The community of Plymouth, Ohio, and the nearby village of Willard are mourning the tragic loss of Ruth Pridemore, an 81-year-old woman who was killed in a four-vehicle crash along State Route 61 on March 9, 2026. Ruth was pronounced dead at the scene after her vehicle was involved in a chain-reaction collision near an active roadwork area, just outside of Plymouth.

The crash occurred around 1:28 p.m., near milepost one, where traffic had been slowed by a flagger due to ongoing construction. Ruth was driving her 2024 Hyundai Tucson when she was struck from behind by a 2018 Ford F-150. The impact caused her SUV to be pushed forward into a Toyota RAV4, which then collided with a Ram 1500. The sudden and violent chain of crashes left Ruth with severe injuries, and despite the rapid arrival of emergency crews, she was tragically declared dead at the scene.

The news of Ruth’s death has deeply shaken both the Plymouth and Willard communities, where she was well-known and loved. Friends, neighbors, and family describe Ruth as a kind, warm-hearted individual who had a genuine care for everyone around her. She was the type of person who always greeted others by name, making everyone feel valued with her quiet but consistent acts of kindness. Ruth’s loss is felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The crash also involved three other drivers: Michael Sexton, Gurpreet Singh, and Brian Mock, all of whom sustained minor injuries. They were treated at the scene and are expected to recover.

Investigators from the Ohio State Highway Patrol are continuing their examination of the crash, with particular focus on traffic conditions and the work zone. Officers from the Plymouth Police Department, Plymouth Fire and EMS, and the Ohio Department of Transportation have all been involved in the response and investigation, alongside the Huron County Coroner’s Office.

Though Ruth’s life was tragically cut short, her memory will not be defined by the circumstances of her passing. Instead, she will be remembered for the love and kindness she shared with those around her, and for the years of quiet compassion she offered to everyone in her community. Ruth Pridemore’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives she touched during her lifetime.
