Luis Eduardo Quintero Sanchez Murder-Suicide, South Miami: Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide With Husband Peter Jesus Cabanzon

In a peaceful corner of South Miami, the sudden loss of 46-year-old Luis Eduardo Quintero Sanchez has sent shockwaves through the community after a tragic shooting at his home on Twin Lake Drive. Authorities were called to the scene on Sunday afternoon, following reports of gunfire at the residence located at 5711 Twin Lake Drive. When police arrived at approximately 2:30 p.m., they found two men inside the home, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Tragically, both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The second victim was identified as 63-year-old Peter Jesus Cabanzon, Quintero Sanchez’s husband. Investigators with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office have suggested that the incident was a domestic-related murder-suicide. Evidence points to Cabanzon allegedly shooting Quintero Sanchez before turning the gun on himself.

According to neighbors, the couple had only recently married in February 2025 and were known for being a friendly, approachable presence in the neighborhood. Residents described Cabanzon as an “excellent person,” someone who was well-liked and sociable. The shock of such violence in a neighborhood typically known for its tranquility has left many questioning what led to the tragic outcome.

Miami-Dade homicide detectives have taken over the investigation, examining the home and speaking with neighbors in an attempt to uncover what transpired in the moments leading up to the deaths. The details surrounding the incident remain unclear, and authorities are still piecing together the events.

As the investigation continues, the community is left to mourn the unexpected loss of two men whose lives had only recently been joined in marriage. Details regarding the obituary, memorial, funeral, and visitation arrangements will be released by the family.
