Acworth, Georgia – The community is reeling from the tragic death of Jordan Jones, who was fatally shot early Saturday morning outside the Saddle Bar in Acworth. Jones, 35, a former college football player at West Alabama and an alumnus of Mountain View High School in Lawrenceville, was shot after attempting to intervene in an assault in the bar’s parking lot.

According to Acworth Police, the altercation began when a woman was being assaulted in the parking lot after the bar closed. Jones stepped in to stop the attack, but the situation escalated when Daniel Parsons, the suspect, retrieved a firearm and shot Jones. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Jones, known for his leadership both on and off the field, had returned to Mountain View as a substitute teacher while also working as a security guard. His former coach at West Alabama described him as a “true leader” who always aimed to bring those around him to the highest level. “Jordan was the kind of person who wasn’t just focused on his own success but on helping others achieve greatness,” his coach shared, recalling Jones’s positive impact on everyone he met.
