Lancaster County, PA — March 7, 2026

The quiet streets of Lancaster County were shaken by a senseless tragedy late Saturday night, March 7, 2026, when Tyler J. Halbleib, a 24-year-old from Elizabethtown, was tragically killed in a dispute that escalated into violence. Halbleib was fatally shot just before midnight on the first block of Beech Lane, where he had been living with several housemates.

According to the Lancaster County Police, officers arrived at the scene around 11:54 p.m. and found Halbleib lying on the front porch of the residence with a gunshot wound to his chest. A resident of the home had already begun efforts to save him, pressing on his wound while emergency crews worked quickly to stabilize him. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, Halbleib’s injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead in the early hours of Sunday, March 8, at about 1:35 a.m. The death was later ruled a homicide.

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a heated argument inside the home that had been brewing throughout the night. At one point, Halbleib and 27-year-old Bradley Yinger stepped outside to continue their dispute on the porch. According to security footage from a door camera, the two men spoke for about 15 minutes, during which Yinger could be heard threatening Halbleib while holding a handgun. The footage captures Yinger pointing the gun at Halbleib before a single gunshot rang out. Halbleib collapsed on the porch, and Yinger fled the scene, driving away in a vehicle.

The authorities quickly tracked Yinger down after he crashed his vehicle into a tractor-trailer in East Donegal Township around 12:08 a.m. Investigators found two firearms in the vehicle, including the weapon believed to have been used in the shooting. Yinger was taken to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. After receiving medical care, he was taken into custody and later arraigned on serious charges, including criminal homicide, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, terroristic threats, and recklessly endangering another person. Due to the severity of the charges, bail was denied, and Yinger remains in custody at Lancaster County Prison.

Those who knew Tyler Halbleib describe him as a kind and caring individual whose presence brought joy to those around him.
