Residents of Gainesville, Florida, are grieving the sudden loss of Dakota Cole, a 23-year-old whose life was tragically cut short in a motorcycle crash early Wednesday morning on Southwest Archer Road.

The crash occurred just after 2:30 a.m. on March 11, when Florida Highway Patrol troopers and Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 5600 block of Southwest Archer Road near Southwest 56th Terrace. Preliminary reports indicate that Cole was riding westbound when he lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected from it. During the incident, he collided with a tanker truck that was also traveling westbound and operated by a 44-year-old driver.

Despite the swift response of emergency crews, Cole was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities temporarily shut down portions of the roadway while investigators documented the crash site and cleared the area.
